Following the pathway of the old Baltimore & Ohio Railroad, this 4.8-mile paved trail links Downtown Painesville with Geauga County. Travelers will cross two bridges and experience varied levels of terrain ranging from an elevation of 660 ft. in Painesville to 895 ft. in Concord Township. With public access points on the Grand River at Beaty Landing and Recreation Park, Painesville is one of the best locations for steelhead trout fishing in North America. Every year the Ohio Division of Wildlife stocks the Grand River with over 100,000 steelhead. These fish migrate out into Lake Erie each spring and return through Painesville each fall. Steelhead are notorious for their tenacious fighting capabilities. For fishing permits, tips, and other useful information, visit the Ohio Division of Wildlife.
